Rescue Box Appeal – Support Animals in Need

Our Alfalfa Hay is an ideal choice for animal sanctuaries, and is particularly well suited to supporting the most vulnerable animals in the sanctuaries care including babies, juveniles, lactating mothers, and those recovering from illness or poor nutrition.

Thanks to the incredible success of our Christmas Rescue Box Appeal in 2023, we were able to support so many rescues in need. Sadly, many of our favourite rescues are still struggling with rising costs, so we've relaunched our Rescue Box Appeal to help provide hay, forage, and essentials to the animals who need it most.

We've selected a few partner rescues to support, and these will rotate throughout the year, ensuring more rescues benefit from your generosity.

💡 If you add other products to your basket, those items will be shipped to your own address unless you let us know in your order notes that they should also be sent to the rescue.

Alfalfa is a legume rather than a traditional grass hay, making it leafy and nutrient-dense with a mix of crunchy strands. It is high in calcium and protein, making it especially valuable for young animals up to 6 months old, lactating mothers, and rescues arriving underweight or recovering from illness who need an extra nutritional boost. Once animals have matured or recovered, transitioning onto a grass hay such as our Pure Timothy or Cotswold Sweet is recommended.

Rich in fibre, Alfalfa also promotes optimal digestion and encourages the natural chewing instinct, helping to keep teeth trimmed and strong. Grown at a neighbouring farm in Oxfordshire and barn dried to the same high standards as all Little Hay Co produce, our careful drying process preserves the colour, fragrance, and vital vitamins and minerals that support your animals' health and coat condition.

Delivery is £4.95 and sent with DPD on a next day trackable service.

When ordering a 5kg or 10kg eco box please ensure you have a dry/sheltered 'safe place' if you are not able to be home for your delivery.
