We started off the month making some field dried meadow hay as we had some glorious sunshine for a few days. Charlie got out with the drone and followed a lot of the action and getting some sky shots for Instagram. Since then it feels like the weather hasn't really made up its mind if it is summer or if we've skipped straight to autumn.
The good news though is that now the meadow hay has been cut the fields can get back to growing again ready for the second cut - aka Silky Soft! The intermittent weather whilst annoying will be good for getting the grass to regrow again.
We had Geordie back in the team for a few weeks before he decided that Zambia would be more fun than the farm. We're not too sad though, as in the short few weeks he was back with us he managed to jam the bale machine, fill the telehandler with the wrong fuel and send our beloved corsa van to heaven..
Planning is well underway for the autumn/winter product releases. We've got new forage boxes having their recipes finalised, new products being ordered ready for dare I drop the c word... Christmas.
We're also busy planning stock supplies and stand layout for Rabbit Fest! Last year we were sooo busy all day. This year we've got a bigger pitch and are planning to bring a bigger van this year to help us keep up with demand.
