Pet Care & News

Chinchillas are quite shy, but with attention, handling from a young age and patience they can build a close bond with their owners. Like many prey animals they don't naturally enjoy cuddles, however are very playful and can be very entertaining. They can have a life expectancy of up to 15 years.

What care do chinchillas need?

Chinchillas need a lot of care, so it’s important to do your research before getting one. They must have access to spaces where they can exercise, and temperatures need to be monitored because they lack the ability to sweat. Keeping their environment below 20C is important. They also need plenty of stimulation to prevent boredom.

How can you ensure your chinchilla's well-being?

Provide a spacious cage with plenty of room for exercise and play. Offer a balanced diet of hay, pellets, and fresh water. Monitor their environment to ensure it stays cool and dry. Regularly clean their cage to prevent health issues. Handle them gently and with care to build trust and a strong bond.
